What is the difference between Builder Gel, Hard Gel & Gel-X?

Structured Gel Manicure

A medium viscoscity gels that go directly over your natural nail & come in a variety of shades. Depending on your lifestyle, Builder Gel (BIAB) or Hard Gel will be applied to your natural nails. This service is ideal for weak and brittle nails and those looking to grow their natural nails. No extra length is added but these services add strength to the nail, allowing them to grow with protection. This service is also suitable in assisting nail biters to end their habits.

Gel-X Extensions

This service is for those wanting to add length to their natural nails. Gel-X is odourless, light weight and applied using gel. This can also be used to help grow natural nails but requires a removal at every appointment.

So, which one is right for me?

For thin and brittle nails or those with nail biting habits, we recommend a structured gel manicure to assist in the growing process. If your nails are relatively strong, then either service would suit you!

How often do I need to get my nails infilled or removed?

For structured gel (Builder & Hard Gel), it is recommended to infill your nails every 2-3 weeks. Gel-X needs to be soaked off at each appointment, and this is recommended every 2-3 weeks. If you leave your nails on for 4+ weeks, you will be more prone to breakages, chipping and lifting. This is because the weight of the nail enhancement is unbalanced and shifts to the end of the nail. Life happens, so if you can’t get into the salon, please book a rebalance rather than an infill for structured gel (gel-x is still a soak off).

I still have nails on from another salon, can you still do my nails?

We offer foreign removals from $25-$60 which means that we can remove your old set before continuing with Nails By Paris products. This service will increase the appointment time as we don’t know what products we are working with. We will not infill others over other technicians work.

Will builder gel damage my nails?

Like other nail products, builder gel is made to be put on your natural nails. Through proper application and removal procedures, your nails should never be damaged or hurt.

Other factors such as heavy chemicals, picking/peeling your nails, using your nails as tools or submerging them in water for extended periods will all impact the state of your natural nail.

Can I get my nails done if I have nail damage or an infection?

If you are concerned about your nail health or damage prior to booking, please dm us. We will ask for a photo of your nails so we can better assess if we can service you. If there is a fungal infection or other contraindications present, we will not be able to service you and highly advise seeing a doctor for a better prognosis.

What are the benefits of a dry (waterless) pedicure?

Dry pedicures are a more sanitary way to clean up and exfoliate your feet by eliminating the water. The technician can easily identify calluses and dry skin and exfoliate using a highly specialised technique. Nails are also porous meaning they absorb water and whilst soaking, they expand. This means that when they shrink and dry out, the polish is more likely to chip.

What happens if I change my mind on the day of my appointment?

If you have a change of mind about nail art or your desired nail service, please try give us as much notice as possible. This ensures that we can fit your request into our designated time slot. Throughout the appointment, you’ll be asked if you are happy with your nails to ensure you walk out with a smile!
